Castro Peak 34°05'09"N -- 118°47'06"W -- 2822' AMSL

Castro provides fine coverage of the Agoura - Westlake - Thousand Oaks area along with also supporting good communicaitons throughout the Los Angeles westside and portions of the San Ferando Valley. The site itself is spread along several hundred yards of an east-west ridge high in the west end of the Santa Monica Mountains.

The site is on private land, as is the access road to the facilities.

There is both commercial and amateur communications at thsi location.

Commercial power, alarm and telephone service available.

From Thousand Oaks, go east on US101 (Ventura Freeway) to Kanan exit. Exit the freeeway and turn right onto Kanan (Kanan Dume Rd); go south 6.6 miles to Latigo Canyon Rd. Turn left and continue 1.0 miles to a saddle at the top of the ridge: the dirt road to the left that follows the top of the ridge is Castro Peak Motorway. There are private residences along this road and road is signed "No Trespassing". From Latigo Canyon Rd, it is 2.2 miles along the Castro Peak Motorway to a hard right turn and a final 0.2 mile climb up to the summit of Castro Peak. The dirt road should be passable all-year, except perhaps after heavy rain.
